As an XIR at General Catalyst Partners, Tad Elmer focuses on investing in early and later-stage companies in government services and information technology. He serves on the board of OGSystems (a General Catalyst portfolio company) specializing in mission-focused agile software development and systems engineering for the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and commercial markets. He is based in the firm’s Cambridge office.
Tad was the Chief Executive Officer and President of BBN Technologies, a General Catalyst portfolio company that was acquired by Raytheon in September 2009. Tad was responsible for over 500 highly trained engineers and scientists working on cutting-edge R&D projects in internetworking, mobile networking, speech recognition, intelligent distributed systems, sensor systems, and quantum computing. Under Tad’s leadership, BBN produced consistent growth and profit while fostering BBN's unique culture of innovation.
Tad graduated cum laude from Carleton College with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and earned a Master's in Physics from the University of Washington.
